The scheme promises Rs four lakh interest free loan to students for pursuing higher education. He also announced the launch of a scheme to provide an allowance of Rs 1,000 per month to youth in the age group of 20 to 25 for two years to help them search job.

PhD students at the Michigan Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Labs in association with Microsoft Research have developed something close. Wearables are the next big step in technology, and DuoSkin is temporary tattoo that can be used to control smartphones, share data via NFC and more.
MIT Media Labs’ website gives out details of the tattoo, which will be showcased by the researchers at a wearables conference later this month. According to the website, Duoskin lets people create “customised functional devices that can be attached directly on their skin.” So a user could wear this on their hand, and then set up functions on how best to control their phone.

Former DMK Minister S.P Sarguna Pandian, who began her political career as a platform speaker, died. She was 75 years old.
She was elected to the Assembly from the R.K. Nagar constituency in 1989 and again in 1996.
As a Minister she held the portfolio of Social Welfare between 1996 and 2001. In the 2006 Assembly elections, she contested unsuccessfully from the Royapuram constituency.
Akshardham founder Pramukh Swami passes away.
Pramukh Swami, the 95-year-old founder of Akshardham temples and a saint of the Swaminarayan sect, passed away after prolonged illness at the Sarangpur temple.
He was the president of the Bochasanvasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS), a sub-sect of the Swaminarayan sect, which during his tenure expanded globally, with over 3000 temples built in five decades worldwide.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the late President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam were among his followers. Kalam had written a book on his “spiritual experiences with Pramukh Swami” and during his tenure as President, he had inaugurated the Akshardham temple complex in New Delhi.
Dipika Pallikal wins Australian Open Squash 2016 title.
India's top squash player Dipika Pallikal on 13 August 2016 won the Australian Open Squash women’s singles title in Melbourne.
To win the title, the top seed Dipika defeated eighth seed Mayar Hany of Egypt 10-12, 11-5, 11-6, 11-4 in the 40-minute final.
For Dipika, this was the first title win in 2016. Earlier, in February 2015, she won the Winnipeg Winter Open in Canada.
