High Level Quant Questions (Based on Averages)


Directions for Questions 1 to 4: Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow.

In a family of five persons A, B, C, D and E, each and everyone loves one another very much. Their birthdays are in different months and on different dates. A remembers that his birthday is between 25th and 30th, of B it is between 20th and 25th, of C it is between 10th and 20th, of D it is between 5th and 10th and of E it is between 1st to 5th of the month. The sum of the date of birth is defined as the addition of the date and the month, for example 12th January will be written as 12/1 and will add to a sum of the date of 13. (Between 25th and 30th includes both 25 and 30).

1. There are eight friends 3 girls and 5 boys Peeyush, Ritika, Vikash, Mohit, Rupa, Vinay, Roshni and Sachin. All have qualifies different government examination. The examinations are RRB, CWE Clerk, RBI Grade B officer, CWE PO, RBI Asst. SSC, United India and LIC. After qualifying the exam all of them posted to different cities. The cities are Bhopal, Gandhi Nagar, Delhi, Gurgaon, Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna and Ludhiana. Vikas cleared CWE PO and given posting in Delhi. No girls have been posted to Gurgaon and Bhopal. Vinay cleared SSC exam. Sachin has posted to Ludhiana. Ritika has cleared CWE Clerk exam. Vinay has been posted to Lucknow. Mohit has been posted to Gurgaon. Peeyush has cleared RRB exam. Rupa has been posted Patna. The girl, who has cleared RBI Asst. exam, has not been posted to Gandhi Nagar or Patna. No girls has cleared LIC exam. Mohit has not cleared United or LIC exam. The one who cleared LIC exam posted in Ludhiana.

Auxiliary Verbs- Hope/Wish

These two verbs are similar in meaning, but are different in their grammatical usage. The verb hope indicates that something possibly happened or will possibly happen. The verb wish indicates that something definitely did not happen or definitely will not happen. Also, the verb hope can be followed by any verb tense, while the verb wish must NEVER be followed by a present tense verb or auxiliary verb. Study the following sentences.

I hope that I will arrive on time.
(I don’t know if I will arrive on time.)

I wish that I could arrive on time.
(I am not going to arrive on time.)
